A painting about anxiety, on a shoe about ease.

Munch painted The Scream in 1893 and the work has been in the public domain for decades. We put it on the quietest silhouette we make: an unlined slip-on loafer with no hardware, no laces and nothing to fasten.

Why a loafer

Why a loafer

The painting is loud enough. Putting it on a bulky sneaker turns it into a costume. On a low, clean loafer the artwork stays the only thing happening, which is how it should be.

Faithful to the original colour

Faithful to the original colour

Munch's sky is not simply orange. It runs through blood red, cadmium and a sour yellow within a few centimetres. The print carries that full range instead of flattening it into one tone.

Handmade construction

Handmade construction

Cut, lasted and finished by hand, with a flexible bonded sole and a padded footbed. Made to be walked in, not admired on a shelf.

Final run. This design was produced in a single limited batch and will not be reprinted. Once a size sells out it is gone for good.
