Van Gogh painted The Starry Night in June 1889 from his room at the asylum in Saint-Remy, working from memory and from a view he could only see at dawn. The swirling sky is the most imitated passage in Western painting and the easiest to reproduce badly.
Impasto is the point
Van Gogh loaded the paint thickly enough that the canvas has physical relief. Flat printing kills that instantly and leaves you with a blue swirl. We printed at a resolution that keeps the individual brush ridges visible, so the sky still reads as paint.
The cypress stays
The dark cypress in the foreground is usually cropped off printed products because it is awkward to place. It is the tallest element in the painting and it holds the composition together, so it stays.

Hand-lasted upper, hand-bonded sole, overnight cure and individual inspection before the pair is boxed.
Final run. This design was produced in a single limited batch and will not be reprinted. Once a size sells out it is gone for good.
